Mr. Keup was born and raised in Saginaw, MI, more specifically in Bridgeport. He spent his entire childhood years attending Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Reese, MI, where both of his parents were teachers. Following grade school, he attended Valley Lutheran High School in Saginaw and is a graduate of the class of 1997. In addition to his academics while attending VLHS, he played soccer, basketball, baseball and was also a 4-year member of the Symphonic Band (playing the tuba!) and the Golden Voice Choir. 

 

He earned a scholarship to play soccer at Concordia University, Ann Arbor, which allowed him to stay close to family. This would also allow him to follow in his grandparents’, parents’, and brother’s footsteps to become an LCMS, synodically trained teacher. He graduated from CUAA in 2003 with his Lutheran Teacher Diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. He would also earn his Master’s Degree later on from Marygrove College of Detroit. Not only did he leave CUAA with many memories, training, and education, but also, his future wife, Cara (Roubal). They were married in June of 2005. 

 

Mr. Keup’s first Call was to Trinity Lutheran Church and School of Reed City, MI in 2006. He was called as the 5/6th Grades Teacher and Athletic Director. Technology Director was unofficially added to his hat rack as the years progressed. During his 20 years at Reed City, Mr. Keup also held various roles including coaching basketball and volleyball teams, the Mid-Michigan Saints League Commissioner, Building Committee Secretary and School Liaison, Youth Group Leader, and served as the secretary on the Board of Christian Education. 

 

Mr. and Mrs. Keup are blessed with three children, Ava, Calah, and Leviticus. Mr. Keup has also been and continues to stay engaged with athletics as an MHSAA Soccer Official for more than 20 years. Outside of professional responsibilities, he enjoys being in the presence of his wife and children, having a cup of coffee with his wife, baking bread from his Dad’s recipe, enjoying quiet time in the woods hunting, mowing his lawn, and cherishing the blessings that God has bestowed.
